February Newsletter
February is the month we
celebrate romantic love on Valentine’s Day. Romantic love is a wonderful gift
from God that, when rightly used, draws men and women together to marry and form
the families that are the foundation of our society. It is also a good time to
remember the immeasurable love of God the Bible says is demonstrated toward us
in so many ways, primarily in the gift of His Son. All of us know John 3:16 “For
God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” However, there are a few others
I want to share that you can meditate on this month during your prayer time.
These certainly are not all, or even a majority of the passages about God’s
love, so I also encourage you to seek out more during this month as well.
How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in
the shadow of your wings (Psalm 36:7). But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and
gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15).
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever (Psalm 136:26). "For
I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and
not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). The LORD
appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving-kindness" (Jeremiah 31:3). The LORD your God is
with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet
you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing." (Zephaniah 3:17). As
the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love (John 15:9).
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For
your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be
slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him
who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor
depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the
love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35-39). But because of
his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even
when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved
(Ephesians 2:4-5). That He would grant you, according to the riches of His
glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that
Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and
grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the
width and length and depth and height, to know the love of Christ which passes
knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Ephesians
3:16-19). Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and
sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:2). But when the kindness and the love of God our
Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and
renewing of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-5). In this the love of God was
manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that
He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.(1 John
4:9-10).

Ed
Sweetheart Banquet
It’s not too late to sign-up and attend another great Sweetheart Banquet on
Saturday the 11th of February! Let us know that you’re coming and what dish you
will bring to share (the church will provide the meat).
Couragous - The Movie
We hope you will join us for a showing of this wonderful movie on February 19th
at 6 p.m. Mark your calendars today and please sign-up right away! To serve and
protect. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, David
Thomson, and Shane Fuller are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day,
they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle:
fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough
seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they're quickly discovering that
their standard is missing the mark. When tragedy hits home, these men are left
wrestling with their hopes, fears, faith and fathering. Can a newfound urgency
help these dads draw closer to God ... and to their children?

Missions
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and truth.
1 John 3:18 The Ladies’ Tea was a great success! Thirty-two ladies came for a
relaxing afternoon of tea, delicious food, fun and fellowship. Our own Charlotte
Mills was the speaker and what a treat that was! We will be putting together
“Thank You Bags” for the Rappahannock County Deputies to show our gratitude for
the great job they do in keeping our county safe. To accomplish this task, we’re
calling all men and women to please come to our Mission’s Meetings on February
1st at 7 p.m. It would be great to see some new, smiling faces. Baptist Women’s
Day is Feb. 19 and the Ladies’ Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. A sign-up sheet for
the breakfast is posted on the bulletin board. Our speaker will be Betsy
Crookshank - the Northern Area Women’s Ministries Director for the SBCV.
Blessings,

Building Committee Report
We’ve added a porch over the back door - stop by and take a look. This
was a project approved years ago but until now, just never came about. We’ve no
other projects planned anytime soon, unless you see something that needs care.
Just leave me a note. In the spring, we’ll plan a day at the church to spruce
the place up and so some minor repair jobs, so be watching for this opportunity
to help.
